Baby Wedel is here!

[Originally sent on November 14, 2004.]

Hello all!

Our son, London, was born by c-section at 12:08 pm today (Saturday, Nov. 13, for those of you in far-flung corners of the globe). He weighs 6 lbs, 13.5 ounces and is 19.75 inches long. Despite being one month premature, he is healthy as a horse, with a strong cry and a big appetite. His full head of dark hair flaunts a no doubt centuries-old tradition of Wedel boys being blonde on arrival. Mom and baby are both doing fine and resting comfortably right now. Vicki has been moved to room 1112 of Dominican Hospital here in Santa Cruz. She will be in recovery for at least four days and maybe five. Hopefully London will get to come home when she does--so far he has not needed an IV, feeding tube, or oxygen tank.

Introduction

First the first year and a half of London's life, I sent out e-mail messages with updates and photos. I recently switched to posting this stuff on a blog. Now I'm going to go back through all of the old e-mails and post their contents here. Enjoy!
